Wie werde ich Stewardess?

To be able to work as a steward, you need to be at least 18 years of age and fulfil several legal requirements. This includes flight suitability which is checked in a separate medical examination. For example, you mustn't suffer from diabetes and your visual acuity may not exceed +/- 5 dioptres. Furthermore, you require a valid passport and a certification of your reliability from the German Aviation Authority.

Should you fulfil these requirements, then you can apply for training at an airline to become a steward/ess. You can learn all the necessary skills in a seven to nine-week training course. If you are taken on in employment, the training courses are generally free of charge. The training course needs to be concluded with a final examination.

Most airlines have further requirements of their flight attendants. These for instance include a minimum height, language skills, a driver's licence, middle school graduation or a well-groomed appearance.
