Ready for take-off: Discover receives flight operation permit

Frankfurt

The time has finally come: EW Discover receives its flight operating license.

The demand for vacation bookings is increasing and EW Discover is now ready to take off. The permit was issued yesterday on 16.06 by the LBA.

"The timing could hardly have been better. People can finally travel again and we are ready to fly them to the most beautiful destinations in the world," said Wolfgang Raebiger, CEO of EW Discover. He added: "We have built up an airline in just one year - an ambitious goal that we have achieved with great support from the entire Lufthansa Group, a motivated team and in close cooperation with the German Federal Aviation Authority. They all deserve our thanks."

The inaugural flight of the freshly minted quality airline will take off from its home airport of Frankfurt am Main on July 24 for its first flight to Mombasa with onward service to Zanzibar. Later in the summer, it will then fly twice a week to Mombasa/Zanzibar and three times a week to Punta Cana. Flights to Windhoek, Las Vegas and Mauritius are also on the schedule.

The EW Discover fleet will consist of a maximum of eleven aircraft this year and will grow to 21 aircraft by the middle of next year (ten Airbus A320 and eleven Airbus A330). All aircraft are from the Lufthansa Group fleet pool.
