Lufthansa Engineering (LHT) is optimistic about the future: With increasing air traffic, the company also anticipates a strong increase in demand for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft. Johannes Bußmann, CEO of Lufthansa Engineering, expects the global market for technical services in air traffic to grow from 89 billion US dollars in 2018 to 135 billion dollars by 2024.

The growth prospects also provide Lufthansa Technik and its 23,000 employees with a good basis for continuing the positive corporate development of recent years. The Lufthansa subsidiary operates 61 aircraft maintenance facilities worldwide and has around 15,000 employees in Germany. It serves around 850 customers and more than 5,100 aircraft, equivalent to one in five aircraft. "Lufthansa Technik has never been bigger and more international than it is today," said Bußmann. Last year it increased its turnover by 9.5 per cent to 5.9 billion euros. Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes amounted to 425 million euros, an increase of 10 billion euros compared to 2017.
