Lufthansa has submitted a non-binding offer for the airline Condor, which is for sale, to its parent company Thomas Cook. Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr announced this today at the group's Annual General Meeting in Bonn. The offer could also be extended to the complete airlines of the Thomas Cook Group. The first deadline for signalling interest ends today, 7 May 2019. According to media reports, Indigo, Ryanair, Easyjet and IAG are also interested in the Thomas Cook airlines.

Lufthansa and its subsidiary Eurowings are particularly interested in the long-haul destinations from Frankfurt and Munich. For short- and medium-haul routes, Spohr expects cartel restrictions by the EU Commission, which already prevented the takeover of large parts of the insolvent Air Berlin.
