China and the European Union agreed yesterday in Brussels on an aviation agreement to allow more connections at lower prices. Under the new agreement, all EU airlines will be able to offer flights to China from countries that have a bilateral agreement with the Asian country. So far, this has only been possible for airlines that are also based in countries with a corresponding agreement.

"We are both interested in better connecting Europe and Asia and making it easier to move goods, services and people between Europe and China," said EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc. The Brussels authority expects that the first eight years of the agreement will bring economic benefits of €3.5 billion for both sides and 11,000 jobs.
