German Airways has signed a long-term wet lease agreement with the Swiss airline Lions Air and will fly from Berne from May 2020. An Embraer E190 LR regional jet will fly to destinations in Spain, Italy and Greece. The first destination will be Palma de Mallorca with several flights per week.

The German Airways brand unites the two airlines LGW and WDL of the Zeitfracht Group, an owner-managed family-owned company operating in the three business segments of logistics, aviation and real estate. Lions Air is a Zurich-based airline that has been operating charter flights for 30 years. During the presentation of the partnership with Lions Air on Friday, German Airways also presented the new paint scheme for its aircraft.

Elisabeth Jesse, CCO of the Zeitfracht Group, on the cooperation agreement with Lions Air: "We are delighted to be able to expand German Airways' customer portfolio with Lions Air for the long term. The agreement also enables us to make a contribution to an important infrastructure project for the Swiss capital and the entire Canton of Berne".
