Employment market pilots


18,000 pilots in Europe are at risk of unemployment or have already lost their jobs, the European Cockpit Association ECA calculates, stressing that the full impact of the Corona pandemic on aviation cannot yet be estimated. "There has never been a situation like this in the last 40 years," says Erhard Walther, founder and managing director of Interpersonal, a personnel service provider specializing in aviation, in the SWR report "Piloten auf Jobsuche."


Many pilots have existential fears, because those who do not fly regularly have fewer and fewer chances of finding a new job as time goes on. Many ask themselves: Will I ever get back into the cockpit or will I have to look for another job?
