USA Entry for unvaccinated persons permitted again

After 38 months, the US authorities have lifted the entry ban for persons who have not been vaccinated or have been incompletely vaccinated against the coronavirus. Vaccinated travellers had already been allowed to re-enter the USA since 8 November 2021.

President Trump imposed the entry ban just over three years ago to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the USA. This entry ban meant that travellers who had been in a country in the Schengen area or in another high-incidence area, such as China, India or Brazil, in the weeks before entering the US were not allowed to enter. With the end of the entry ban, all Corona measures in the US have been lifted since 12 May 2023.

Travellers therefore no longer need to present proof of vaccination or a negative test result upon arrival in the USA. However, an ESTA or US visa will still be required for international travellers. German nationals can usually use an ESTA for a holiday or business trip and do not need to make an appointment at the US consulate for a visa.
