Our career advice for you.

Pilot. Dream job or the path to an uncertain future?

No industry is as sensitive to crises as aviation. Nevertheless, young people make their way into aviation every day in the hope that at the end of their flight training they will get a safe and well-paid job with a renowned airline. A privately financed pilot training is associated with high costs (70,000 to 100,000 euros) and therefore represents a high economic risk for young professionals. Expensive training is no guarantee of a later job in the cockpit. As the market leader for the selection of pilots, we have the expertise and experience to test and advise you. Trust our team of experts. We have developed suitable instruments for a high quality selection of suitable aviation personnel. The concept is based on the recommendations of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) and the Aviation Quality Association e.V.

Your job profile. First-hand information.

We provide you with a realistic job description and give you an insight into everyday work and the framework conditions of the job of pilots of various airlines. We will introduce you to the very different concepts of airlines and highlight the associated advantages, but also the dark side of the various career options. The last few decades have changed aviation, and with it the requirement profiles for pilots. The growth of airlines in the area of "point to point" traffic and in the freight segment characterize the life of a pilot. The effects are not limited to the world of work, but have a strong impact on your leisure time and your private life. Additional aspects include the increase in the degree of automation in the aviation industry, the high cost pressure in all work areas and the waves of consolidation that are creating major alliances worldwide. These changes are huge, so unadorned information and first-hand experience reports are extremely important for you to get a realistic picture of the future world of work. Here you will find tips and testimonials from pilots.

Your skills and your knowledge.

The determination of the relevant cognitive skills (e.g. spatial orientation, perception, mental arithmetic, multi-task skills and much more) and your knowledge of English, math and physics, which are necessary for the successful training and successful practising of the pilot profession, belong to professional career advice. Long-term data collection is of great importance here in order to give such test procedures valid validity. The knowledge of math, physics and English required by EASA is checked by the flight schools and usually assessed at its own discretion. However, the knowledge in these specialist areas is not sufficient to check your qualification. On the contrary, the economic risk of pilot training is not cushioned by this measure. The practice in the selection of pilots repeatedly confirms a high number of applicants who do not meet the requirements of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) as part of the Pilot Aptitude Testing and the Assessment Center. The lack of knowledge and skills unfortunately only becomes clear at a point in time when the majority of investments have already been made by the flight student or prospective pilot. Then it is already too late for you, because you have to pay the training costs in any case.

Your psycho-motor skills, hand-eye coordination.

How sensitively can you control an airplane? How well can you implement information from your eyes with your hands? Checking your psycho-motor skills is an important prerequisite for your start in pilot training. Studies have shown that it is essential for training success in the cockpit to check the hand-eye coordination of the budding flight students. A lack of psycho-motor skills leads to significantly higher training costs, since the training programs and the expected number of flight hours on the plane and on flight training devices are based on the lower average. In this way, the lack of skills is paid for dearly by the flight student.

Your personality.

The examination of your personality traits is of fundamental importance in good career counseling. Fundamental deficits in important personality traits that are expected from a pilot are often the reason for not being successful when later applying at an airline. This is where the potential pilot candidate bears the greatest risk. Appropriate measures should be taken to minimize the risk before training begins. The career.check gives you feedback.
