Airbus is optimistic about the future and is anticipating an increase in demand for commercial aircraft. According to a forecast which the aircraft manufacturer released today in London, 39,210 new passenger and cargo aircraft will be needed worldwide by 2038. That equals 1800 more jets than were forcast last year for the next two decades.

According to Airbus, three quarters of the calculated demand will be accounted for by medium-distance aircraft like the Airbus A320neo or Boeing 737-Max. Large jets like the A350 are supposed to account for only 10%. Airbus had already decided in February to discontinue production of the Airbus A380 wide-body aircraft.
